Abstract

This study examines the patent landscape of biotechnology in Russia by comparing it with global trends. The research relies on the authors’ methodology of patent selection and identifies existing trends characteristic of our country, showing the importance of developing innovation clusters. Our research addresses the patent landscape of Russia in the field of biotechnology and focuses on the macro-level research and partially affects the meso-level. The main objective was to define the boundaries of the sector under study and provide a comprehensive analysis of the market situation identifying current trends in biotechnology, as well as the largest players (both domestic and foreign) engaged in R&D and patenting in Russia in the field of biotechnology.
