The Problem of Reliability of Household Statistical Accounting in the Post-Soviet Period

Abstract

The paper traces the evolution of changes in the rules and regulations of statistical accounting for agricultural production in the post-Soviet period. It is shown that corrections were made retrospectively, following the discovery of current accounting distortions based on the results of All-Russian Agricultural censuses of 2006 and 2016. The main reason for discrepancies is the shortcomings in household statistics’ organization. The author’s reconstruction of modifying factors for accounting the acreage of potatoes and vegetables, indicators of gross production of the major types of agricultural products introduced after the censuses is presented. The results of the micro-census of 2021 are considered from the point of view of verifying current accounting and improving its methodology.
