Abstract

The paper addresses the problems of economic education in secondary and higher schools and its role in understanding the most important principles of decision-making. The reasons for shortcomings in economic education are manifold: from mixing of common and scientific terminology and politicization of economic science to defects in programs and teaching methods and low qualification of teachers. Defects of school education have to be overcome in higher education. In addition, it is necessary to organize retraining of specialists of different professions. The paper deals with the basic principles of economic science and some methodological techniques of bringing economic knowledge to secondary school students; it substantiates the necessity of a separate school course of economics and presents some proposals for the program of such a course.
