Decarbonization of Economic Development: Challenges and Prospects for Russia

Abstract

The paper considers opportunities for the development of the national economic system in modern conditions, characterized, on the one hand, by the tightening of environmental requirements and the introduction of a carbon tax, a decrease in the competitiveness of domestic products and a general increase in world prices due to large-scale investments in the decarbonization process. On the other hand, sanctions restrictions and Western countries’ refusal to buy Russian traditional energy resources. It shows the importance of including the Russian economy in the global decarbonization process. At the same time, it is necessary to diversify the existing energy capacities, taking into account domestic consumption, as well as the requests of countries whose development is still based on traditional energy resources. The development of clean renewable energy in our country will be facilitated by taking into account the environmental factor, the calculation of which for greenhouse gases can be used in the mechanism of carbon regulation.
