Abstract

In the interview, the author shares his memories of the outstanding Soviet and Russian scientist and organizer of science Valentin Afanasyevich Koptyug, Member of the Russian Academy of Science. The personal and managerial capacity of this brilliant man who headed the largest Siberian branch of the USSR/Russian Academy of Sciences from 1980 until his death in 1997 are of genuine interest. His memories include episodes that were not included in the previously published official chronicles and biographical data, but which characterize V. A. Koptyug from a new and sometimes unexpected side.
